We are honoured to be hosting this years Hooker Distinguished Visiting Professor Ayse Ökten Imrohoroglu!
Ayse’s work has been foundational to modern quantitative macroeconomics, she was the first to introduce an incomplete market, heterogeneous-agents model in the computer. In fact, a lot of the work from faculty and Ph.D. students here at our Economics Department has been influenced by Ayse’s work.
Join us for our annual public lecture, Tuesday, September 24th held at the Degroote School of Business (DSB) 505, 2:00pm-4:00pm.
Topic: The Poor
The significant disparities in income and wealth among people in the U.S. are undoubtedly contributing to the issue of homelessness. For instance, 40% of Black Americans have less than $3,400 in emergency savings, making it particularly challenging to cope with unexpected financial setbacks. What are some of the underlying reasons for the disparities in wealth accumulation and the prevalence of homelessness?
RSVP for the public lecture here.
Ayse will be sharing two additional seminars during her stay! Open to graduate students and faculty, please join us:
Monday, September 23rd, LR Wilson 1003, 3pm, Topic: Homelessness
Wednesday, September 25th, KTH 334, 11:30am-12:30pm, Topic: Wealth Distribution by Race
